The Bell Law Partners

Alan M. Bell is the founding partner of The Bell Law Partners and the founder, president and chief executive officer of The Elements Group. Growing up the youngest of 10 children in East Chicago, Indiana, a gritty, working-class town, Alan Bell's mother always had an abundant flower garden flourishing in the front yard and his father proudly nursed a robust vegetable garden in the back yard. Through this real life experience and appreciation for nature and its positive impact at a very young age, Alan was inspired to find simple ways for people in the modern world to connect with and appreciate the natural environment.

Alan brings over 35 years of transactional experience representing corporations, national commercial banks, bond issuers, public housing authorities, and for-profit and nonprofit developers and lenders. He has represented clients on municipal finance, corporate finance, real estate, and public-private partnership transactions totaling more than $35 billion, serving as bond counsel, co-bond counsel, underwriters' counsel, issuer's counsel, disclosure counsel, special counsel, borrower's counsel, legislative counsel, and credit enhancer's counsel across the deal team. His work has included lead roles in the new Soldier Field Stadium, the McCormick Place West Expansion, and the U.S. Cellular Field Renovation.

Alan is involved in civic and community endeavors and currently serves on the Board of Openlands, the Conservation and Policy Council of the Forest Preserves of Cook County, and the Board of the Black Ensemble Theater. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree, with an emphasis in Finance, from the University of Notre Dame in 1986 and his law degree from the Notre Dame Law School in 1989. He received his Certificate in Project Management from New York University in 2003, and in 2018 was recognized by Crain's as one of Chicago's Notable Minority Lawyers.
